  Hello Visitor, In Spanish we learned about ingredients, fruits, commands, and utensils that are commonly used in the kitchen; and learned how to form past participles. In this action project we were asked to create a menu consisting of breakfast, lunch, and dinner. My menu will be This is my video.  I would say the hardest part of the project was editing as my editing software was crashing as I was trying to put in audio clips making it more difficult under the time constraint I was under. I should've separated the editing process to 3 days so I can focus on Captions, Video clips, and Audio independently instead of altogether making the process more convoluted. 

 Hey Visitor, In this class called Policy, we looked at the 3 branches of government, the history of law-making, how law is interpreted, and what follows up to an act or a law. In this Unit of Policy we focused on the Judicial and Executive branch. In class we split up the Constitution to look over the 1st and 2nd article to dissect it to figure out what the President can and CANNOT do. Like how the President's appointed officials have to be interviewed and granted the position by Congress. How Congress rules over inferior courts, and etc. All of this was used to build our understanding if war can be justifiable. With our Field Experience to the Everett M. Dirksen courthouse we took a tour and analyzed how cases in court are processed,  how evidence is presented, then we had lunch with attorneys and a judge. Hi Visitor! This project was for the class called “Urban Planning” . This is our 3rd and final unit of the class and during this time we learned about Ancient cities and structures, City planning ideas, current problems in cities and solutions or hypothetical solutions, and how cities evolved differently like New York and Amsterdam. In this Project we were asked to pick an area that we wanted to improve and make at least 5 improvements to the selected area. The general area I chose was South Shore due to my previous knowledge of knowing that South Shore was disinvested in; and the specific address I chose was 2507 E 79th St since it has no current use and it has a lot of potential to be repurposed so I went with it.      The main purpose I had for this area was to create a community farm because according to data in 2019; 57% of residents in the South Shore area live in a food desert. Hi Visitor! in our "Policy" class, we dived into the intricate world of legislating, executing, and interpreting policies. Our exploration through the legislative branch, its historical significance in pushing boundaries and establishing new frontiers, and the process of transforming bills into laws. To gain a deeper understanding of the legislative process at the local level, we attended a city council meeting, observing the dynamics of the courtroom. We then got into the realm of workers' rights organizations, studying how they advocate for their needs and orchestrate change within companies. Our immersive experience included a roleplay session organized by Depaul, providing us with invaluable insights into the mechanisms of policy transformation within a company setting. Hey Visitor! In our Urban Planning class, we delved into the history of the "War of the Currents." We learned a variety of concepts regarding electricity; like its significance in modern society, the path it takes when traveling, how circuit diagrams aid in understanding its flow, the tools involved in circuits, and the different types of circuits that exist. Along this course, we encountered math variables such as "current," "amps," "voltage," "resistance," and "power." So we can use these variables to apply them to formulas like Ohm's Law (Voltage = Current x Resistance), then we  learned Coulomb's law and discovering the similarities to Newton's Universal Gravitation Law on a smaller scale. For our project, we were assigned the task of designing a circuit containing five resistors, one parallel branch switch, and a main switch.  Hey Visitor, in this class called Urban Planning we talked about the physics and math behind building a bridge. The history of architectural artifacts in history, where compression & tension exists in the bridge, why we need to know these things; and the math formulas required like law of sines, cosines, Potential  and Kinetic energy. After learning this we were asked to create a bridge that was able to support 10 Ibs while only building the bridge with glue sticks and 75 popsicle sticks.  We didn't have a draft of the original building because we knew our idea will progress further and improve but the one that we ended up using is this.        My partner and I had numerous conversations about the type of triangles we would use for our bridge.   Hello Visitor! In this class called A Nation’s Argument we talked about the progression of the United States as a nation. In that, we wanted to answer the question of how a Nation that is supposed to act in unity contradicts itself due to the differences in political views, life ideologies, and of course, the economy. We went back to the very beginning by studying the Declaration of Independence by having groups debunk each page of the D.O.I to understand why and how Thomas Jefferson wrote what he did. We also had to think as a person in the 1770’s to fully engulf in the world of a person that lived in this time to figure out their perspective and the thesis that the United States was proclaiming. Hey Visitor, In this Action Project we learned about the last Unit in this class which was Light. The light portion of this class had a lot of math and history. We were asked the question of how we would define time, then learned the general anatomy of the planet regarding where the Equator is, the north pole, and south pole. After that we looked at the history of devices that used the aspects of the Earth like the Sun in order to tell time. The devices we looked at were from the ancient past and we then followed the pivotal scientific discoveries during that era to see how it progressed forward. The devices went from the sundial and chronologically progressed to the digital time on our phones. During the following of these scientific discoveries we learned the math behind every device that required it.  Hello Visitor, This was a project for the Spanish class where we were asked to make a matching flash card game about a Spanish speaking city. The city I chose was Mexico city; but preceding to this project we learned about Indirect and Direct Pronouns, Irregular and Regular Verbs. We then looked at activities that tourists would do in these cities and images to correlate to the activities. Lastly, we had to get flashcards and images to make a matching game.  Hello Visitor! This class is called Light, Sound, and Time; this is Unit 2 so we learned about the speed of sound, how sound translates into waves, how sound travels and how fast sound is in different mediums of the earth; like water, air, and certain temperatures. We focused more on the Doppler effect, frequency, and pitch since that correlated more to the math portion; before we went outside of the classroom to identify how people would adapt without the use of sound and the technology that is created to cater to those with hearing issues. We learned the anatomy of the ear and how sound waves transfer into things mammals can perceive sound first and Then took an FE to the Chicago Hearing Society. Hey Visitor, this is a Humanities class called A Nation’s Argument. In this class we learned about the concept and how to construct an argument. To the type of stylistic devices Thomas Paine used in “Common Sense”, what led to the demographic heavily agreeing, To The history and deconstruction of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. For this project we were asked to think of an Independent study we would be interested and make a very valid argument to why learning that subject, topic, or genre is our right ad a student. I chose my independent study to drawing/ learning an art medium.

 Hello Visitor! After civic term, The core class Light, Sound, and Time was upon the junior class. Light, Sound, and Time is about how all of the significant elements work. In this particular unit "Light" we learned about the parts of the eye, How light is a particle and a wave due to the aspects it has, the process of refraction and reflection, how colors appear, and the spectrum of radiation. We were then asked to create a pinhole camera to experiment how light can be used to create images. We had to bring a container and paint it black so it attracts the most light and that'll prevent light leaks from happening on the film we'll be using in the future. Then created a pinhole in the container and got an aluminum piece and created a hole in that also it can go inside of the container.      Hello Visitor, I will be talking about my experiences of volunteering for Feed My Starving Children (FMSC), making sandwiches for the homeless, Cradles to Crayons, and Greater Chicago Food Depositories from the medium of the class I'm taking currently called Global Paz; and how it connects to Sarvodaya and Swadeshi.       For Feed My Starving Children it wasn't difficult, but it was assembly line like work which can be very draining for the mind and body. But learning at the end that we made at least 300+ boxes of food was very fulfilling to hear. My role was to seal all of the packaged food that was inside with a machine and then hand it off to the person who's filling the boxes. I think this connects to Sarvodaya because  it supports people from across the world who don’t have access to food.   Hi Visitor, I’m KJ and the topic I chose for this project was housing affordability in Chicago. I chose this topic because it directly affects communities that surround me. The message of my artwork is to exaggerate the goal of developers to make profits off of people. People should care about the topic of housing affordability because homelessness is increasing in Chicago, the economy isn’t doing too well, there is a very high chance of us entering a recession by 2023, and housing is becoming more expensive while wages are not changing.  Recently I was walking to get some food and I went to the local Walgreens in Englewood. There was a homeless person outside, on drugs. This made me think about how the only way they could possibly feel satisfied with themselves is the use of a substance. Hi Visitor, For the First Action project in code we were asked to make a pseudocode of a game. Due to this being an introductory project we did a group activity where we got into 2 small groups and one person had to be blindfolded and essentially go through a course based on the directions we as a group chose to write down and say to the blinded partner. This helped us give a sense of how a computer would think since we removed the senses that would give people an intuition to easily go through the small course that was set up. I did my project on the classic game "Space Invaders" and this is my attempt to make a Pseudo code of it.  The hardest part for me was trying to find the right words and breaking down the game to a level where I can find words that I think the computer would understand. I think there would be tons of errors; just to point one for example the bullet code line because I didn't define how a bullet would move towards the alien ships; I just hoped for...

In this unit of Design & Engineering we learned formulas for kinetic energy, potential energy, velocity, speed, momentum, etc. Also we learned about the 2 Newton’s laws, gears and how they operate, and the anatomy of the bike plus what the parts are used for. Before we started the Action Project we went to a Bike Shop to learn how to fix bikes and the process of the bike shop donating bikes, catering bikes to certain people and how they estimate which bike is best for them by the limited information they get on the person. In this Action Project we were asked to create a Bike for the person we randomly chose. I picked the number 8 and got Atef who’s an Egyptian 15 year old that needs to get to school in hot weather. The terrain is sandy, traffic is a drag, and he needs to travel 3.25 miles to get to school and be able to park the bike in cramped areas. The bike I produced for him was called the TR-22.  Hi Visitor, In my class called Rhetoric we indulged ourselves in the topic of housing. We went on Field Experiences to the 33rd ward to talk about their experiences in Canvassing, and common tactics that they use to make sure the canvassing their doing house to house goes smoothly, also the information that they use before they do the in-person canvassing. We also learned about the status quo of the residents in that area. We then talked about the narrative that different organizations/groups have and due to that narrative what uses of rhetoric can we identify that they use to try and push their narrative.  In this Action Project we were asked to write a canvassing script about a problem in a certain community. I chose the problem of abandoned homes in multiple neighborhoods and how it's detrimental to them.  Hi Visitor, In my Intro to Coding class we were asked to make a chat bot, with 5 total questions using booleans and other aspects of coding. Before this project we learned about Boolean meanings and if statements. We learned how to format if statements, elif statements, and how to use if statements in certain situations. After we learned this we proceeded to work on the Action Project. I made a chatbot that'll talk about movies and has a keen liking to Spiderman.   It was my best project so far, but there were some challenges in the way. Like the formatting of having multiple if statements, multiple answers, and the biggest issue was the multiple combinations that could be typed in the movie genre question. Besides those problems the project was a pretty smooth process since I had a clear goal of what I wanted and not having to do as much improvisation.

 Hello visitor. In Spanish we were asked to talk about a trip to a Spanish speaking country. Before we started this project we learned Superlatives and learned more adjectives to describe people. We were supposed to make an English Version and the Spanish version of the brochure to practice our use of superlatives, -er, -ar, and -ir verbs, and lastly conjugating ser and estar verbs. The country I chose to do for this Project was Panama just out of curiosity of what Panama entails. This is my Panama brochure.  I think the hardest part of the project was creating the Spanish version of the brochure. The way I solved this was simply by asking my teacher to help me with the Spanish, and make sure I wrote the Spanish correctly. 

Hello Visitor, I'm taking a class called Art of Rhetoric where we learn how Rhetoric can be used, why it is used, and how Rhetoric affects us today. Before this Action Project we talked about the Rhetoric appeals that are used in things like Advertisements like Political Campaigns, learned about rhetorical devices like allusion, allegory, alliteration, and went on an FE to a Budget & Government Operations committee meeting. Right before we started the Action Project we evaluated some flyers to get the grasp of what a flier should look like and the possible things we can improve on our flier. Now for this Action Project, we were asked to raise awareness of an issue relating to Housing in the medium of a flier. Now in the making of this flier we have to use rhetorical devices and appeals.
