The Luxurious Prototype

Image
Hi Visitor, This AP was the very first Action Project of this term. The preparation we did for this Action Project was going to the Harold Washington Library and to the children's space to have some sort of visualization of what a lounge would look like, we also had a conversation about the design process and possible orders to attack the situation. Then we had to make a floor plan that provides a safe, non-violent, inclusive and effective learning environment out of a GCE classroom. This is my design of the student lounge.       "The Luxurious Prototype", K.J, 2022 The hardest part was probably filling the room up due to how much space there is. I tried filling the room to the best of my ability since I have no prior knowledge on to how to properly fill a room. I started with picking out the chairs, I wanted to fill the room the lounge with enough seats while maintaining the openness of the room so everyone doesn't feel bunched up together. But they have the p...

The Technique Of Beating Diabetes

Hi Visitor, this is a project for the class called Cure. In this unit of Cure, we talked about Preventative Care Plans, the difference between Eastern medicine and Western medicine, what medicine is best for certain problems that someone is having, the difference between medication and drugs, and types of degrees that are needed to qualify for a certain medical position. We were asked to play the role of someone’s doctor and tell the patient what changes are needed in order to prevent the disease they’re worried about or supposed to be worried about due to pre-existing conditions that can’t be changed. What I enjoyed about this project is finding the treatments to the patient’s problem because it made me learn more about Eastern medicine and how it works as well as Western medicine for this disease. What I struggled with on this project was mainly figuring out what format I should do it in, but I decided to stick to my usual formatting strategy as it would’ve taken more time to f...

Finding Nora

Hey, In this Action Project in Drama we were asked to create a play that will give us some insight on how we can challenge gender norms and stereotypes. Before we were asked to make this Action Project the activities that we did before this was read the play A Doll's House and get some historical context to what Norway was like in the 1800's. After reading this book we discussed what were the gender roles in the book A Doll's House and how those roles could've been broken by characters. Most importantly how Nora reacted to the roles that she was forced in, due to her significant other. We agreed that the main action that Nora committed at the end: her leaving Torvald and trying to find herself, broke the gender role of a woman financially or emotionally depending on a man in order to feel like they fulfilled what was socially expected at the time, and after some more discussions dissecting the book this was the next project we were introduced with. The character I pick...

The Fight Against Nasal Congestion

Hi, In this Action Project for Cure we were asked to demonstrate how medications work in the body. The problem I chose to tackle was nasal congestion and these were the medications I chose to demonstrate/explain that would solve that problem. Before playing the video put the playback speed to 0.5.

Cure

The first unit in Cure we talked about various things like Medical oaths that doctors took: We discussed our personal morals of what a doctor should follow, and then started talking about Cells, Organelles, then transitioned to Mitosis and Meiosis. After we learned the difference and similarities of Mitosis and Meiosis, we went to the International Museum of Surgical Science to understand some sort of medical history and to get more information on a surgery we were interested in. After the field trip we started formatting and understanding the goal of this Action Project. The Action Project's goal was to have us make a pamphlet/brochure of a surgery to our liking and to provide information that a patient would need or like to have before they go through with the surgery.

The Consequences of Greed

Drama is a class that talks about the challenges and norms of gender roles, and how these gender roles can be challenged with the use of theater.       In this term of drama, we discussed the roles gender plays in the Shakespeare play, The Tragedy of  Macbeth . I chose to address the character of Lady Macbeth and how she’s forcing the norm of men being cold onto Macbeth which leads him into a path of bitterness and over-confidence. Macbeth leaving her when she needs him most (since she’s going crazy due to her helping him with the murder of King Duncan). So in the end she’ll regret manipulating him to do a heinous action. This Action Project’s goal was to use Shakespeare’s writing style to address how gender roles are portrayed in the play and to give advice to a character if we had the chance. This is my sonnet.  " The Consequences of Greed " Lady Macbeth you know thy goal But do you know the cost  Wouldst you give up thy soul  And let thy...
