In my population class we're learning about the evolution which led us to the discussions of Charles Darwin principles of selection, DNA, and Natural Selection. We were given a project to broaden our intelligence on an organism and theorize on how it would do in a different environment. The organism I chose was the Japanese Macaque. The difference between Japanese Macaques and New world monkeys are the nose shapes, the Japanese Macaque has a downward pointing nose while New world monkeys have rounded nostrils. Another difference is the fact that the Japanese Macaques are usually on the ground way more than a New World monkey. This is also turned more into a behavioral/physical trait too. Since the Japanese Macaque doesn't have a tail that could hold on and swing to branches like it's counterparts.
Do monkeys have requirements other monkeys need to meet in order to mate? Female Japanese Macaques are very selective with the mate they're choosing. This is to prevent interbreeding in the group of macaques.
Do monkeys have a beauty standard? Female monkeys don't necessarily have a beauty standard, but they do have requirements of the male being strong or intelligent.
How long can a monkey tail be?
https://similarbutdifferentanimals.com/2021/06/13/how-long-are-monkey-tails/ says that generally a tail monkey can be 2-39 inches long

Hypothesis: The Japanese Macaque has a chance at surviving, but they will not be having the most comfortable time. They will most likely not have many food options since they are monkeys in the environment that are faster due to them using an extra body part (tail) so the possibility of catching smaller animals is low due to them being slower than other monkeys. But they’ll still be able to survive off of other things in their diet like insects, bark, soil, leaves, and flowers. Also due to this being their diet they can easily be able to give that to their partner and children since they have the ability to store food in their mouths while they’re hunting. The heat that is common in rainforests will affect the Japanese Macaque depending on where the Japanese Macaque was originally before being moved to this habitat, If they lived in the colder regions of Asia like northern Asia then it will affect them since they’re not due to there being heat all year around. Being in this environment will most likely cause the Japanese Macaque to not have as much fur in the future because of the possible discomfort it could bring being in an hotter environment that doesn’t have a winter season. This could also make them learn to shed more so they have less hair so the discomfort can stop in the next generation and so forth.
